The surrounding area
The town of Korčula has 5000 inhabitants, a rich flora, spectacular surroundings and architecture. The medieval city walls encompass the Old Town where Marco Polo’s house, the cathedral, churches and small chapels dating from 12th and 13th century are located, as well as art galleries, souvenir shops and numerous restaurants with exquisite gastronomic specialties.
Outside of the town, there are authentic rural households with a distinguished offering of food and drinks, as well as many colourful small hamlets where excellent wines are grown. Korčula is rich with folklore, music and it is known for its famous game “Moreška”.
The town is connected by the regular ferry line to the peninsula Pelješac, the towns Split, Rijeka and Dubrovnik. The ferries also go to the national park Mljet. |
